Colloquial terminology

This article was published in the May 2015 Yachting Monthly letters page. They edited my letter (PC concerns no doubt) omitting the third reference to the practice offered by Bob Haywood and that was ‘Egyptian PT’

“I was blessed with a variety of crew during my cruise around the UK last year. During discussions on the various legs I was amused by the different expressions for taking an afternoon snooze. Bob, who had worked extensively in the Middle East called it ‘Egyptian PT’. Dave who is a retired Merchant Navy Captain called it ‘deck head inspection’ and Tom who is currently a Fleet Air Arm Sea King pilot called it ‘climbing to two feet and levelling out’.
