"For Boats, even the uglier ones, are among the loveliest creations of man’s hands, and though owning them brings a train of debts, hangnails, bruises, bad frights, and all kinds of worries not experienced by those who content themselves with more practical vices, the relation between man and his boat is as personal and intimate as the relation between husband and wife" - DESMOND HOLDRIDGE
This letter appeared in the December 2016 Yachting Monthly and the tidying of the stack pack was done on my old Jeanneau 44.
Having sailed for most of my adult life, I retired (took a step back) from my company ATOM Ltd which continues in my absence, run by an excellent team of loyal employees. I now sail my Southerly 135 and crew on friends yachts (sail, power & canal) just enjoying being on the water. I still manage to find time to spend with my family, house and garden in Sunningdale.
I also 'nudge the tiller' at ATOM on the odd occasion!
