Mayreau magic

By crossing the bay from Petite Martinique to Petit St. Vincent we had effectively crossed from Grenada to the jurisdiction of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. We had changed our courtesy flag accordingly but the officials accept a delayed formalisation so we have to ā€˜clear inā€™ in Clifton on Union Island. This is just a... Continue Reading →

Petit Gem

Thankfully it seems that Tuesday night is not a party night in Tyrrel Bay and we enjoyed a calm and quiet night after an excellent sausage pasta meal on board. In Hillsborough we had purchased (on recommendation) a bottle of the ā€˜local versionā€™, ā€˜Jack Ironā€™ rum. This is only sold in un-labelled, re-cycled bottles with... Continue Reading →

Carriacou soaking

We actually regretted having already ā€˜cleared outā€™ of the Grenadines as Chatham Bay was such a pretty and sheltered anchorage, we would have liked to spend a lazy day there. We did have time before we left for a swim in the crystal clear water and I used the brilliant (although I do say so... Continue Reading →

Grenadine clear out

Having anchored in the most idyllic Chatham Bay on Union Island, the only downside, (or possibly upside) is that there is no internet signal so no blog update ā€“ I hear the sighs of relief! After slipping our overnight mooring in the wonderful Tobago Cays Nature Reserve, we cleared out of the Grenadines at the... Continue Reading →

Tobago Cays charm

Having taken a long walk through the village in and chatted to the locals, we never at any stage felt uncomfortable. This after being advised on the yachting forums to avoid Canouan because of security issues. Chatting to Albert, the proprietor of the Mangrove Bar who is the local business co-ordinator, it seems to be... Continue Reading →

Canouan revisited

Noting that Admiralty Bay, Bequia would be a popular stop on the way back north, we weighed anchor for the 20 mile passage to Canouan. We have all visited Canouan before when our daughter, Rebecca lived in the resort so we were keen to reminisce. The advice from the internet yachting forums is that the... Continue Reading →

Bequia Beckoned

Lynn has complained that writing after my contribution undermines her entry so today,Ā Lynn writes first:- Left Wallilabou this morning and said goodbye to this small bay which has been an eye openerā€¦poverty forces people to be creative and they are! It is with a certain amount of guilt that I look back, yes we are... Continue Reading →

Driftwood retailing

I am compelled to note another fabulous meal in the Rainforest Hideaway in Marigot Bay ā€“ a completely wonderful experience. ! We had already ā€˜clearedā€™ and paid so we slipped our mooring Ā early in the morning and headed south to St. Vincent. St. Vincent suffers from a lack of an International Airport and is less... Marigot Bay again.

The adventure resumes with our return to Marigot Bay in St. Lucia where Hejira has been moored over Christmas. The marina staff have been excellent, even mailing the necessary paperwork to clear in the quantity of equipment sourced for the improvement of Hejira for the challenges ahead. More of this and photos to follow in... Continue Reading →
